In November, we had a drama based on court for someone drinking our Teacher's drink, we had the Defendant as Fionn and his defence was Marwan. Prior to this, we had a science lesson which included seeing the fingerprints of all the class. The main suspect was Fionn.
There was an audience , Witnesses, The Jury , The Judge, Darragh, and the Prosticutors; Mr.Daly and Gavin. There were three reporters which wrote about this court case while it happened. Marwan had excellent points of how Fionn didn't commit the crime. Our Teacher and Gavin came back at them with proof. Three people were called up and they became Witnesses. The three Witnesses were Ms.Lynch, Maciej and Aaron. They told the court their stories/thoughts up next to the Judge. Maciej got called up as a Witness for the second time, he couldn't take the pressure so he turned himself in, the whole court was surprised and we're waiting for another court. Last week we had incident where Mr Daly's glass of juice. There was a fingerprint left on the glass when we returned to class. We had to find out who it was. We learned all about fingerprints and how unique they are. Following this, we gathered all the fingerprints in the class.
Soon after we hung the fingerprints on the door, and matched it to the one on the board. The suspect was fionn due to his fingerprint and a freckle on his hand Entry by Kevin,Marwan and Charlie ,
This week for Visual Art we made necklaces. First, we got corks and we had a choice to paint them silver or gold. Then we got crayons and grated them with a grater to put into our painted corks. We got string and we had a choice with white or blue string. Shortly after, we put in glitter that was green, blue and red then we put PVA glue on top of the glitter. After awhile we got small metal rings and put the string through the small holes and put it through the cork then we went down to the kitchen and put them in the freezer for 30 minutes When we came back after 30 minutes and opened the freezer and took out the corks and when they were froze. We put them around our necks and we had our own necklaces. Entry by Gavin, Conor and Evan. These are our projects on World War 2
We took lots of trips to the computer room to research for this project. We also printed cool pictures from world war 2. To start off the project we got a big sheet and wrote down the research from our S.E.S.E copies. The following day we got our pictures that we picked and stuck them to our sheets. Some of us decided to draw our pictures instead of printing them. When the day came that we had to present our projects most of us had them done but some of us were almost finished so we had to do them over the mid-term. We had great fun learning about world war 2. It was very interesting. Entry by Mark ,Darragh and Eric On Friday we dressed up in our Halloween costumes.
Soon after, we did a visual art lesson on giving ourselves fake cuts. Ingredients: Tissue, glue, a mixture of honey and red food colouring and makeup. First, we got tissue and glued it to our hand. Next, we put makeup on the tissue to blend it in. Soon after, a mixture of red food colouring and honey for blood. After, we let it dry in. Later on , we went on our sponsored walk for money for the school . It was 5.5km long in our costumes and we were tired, but it was enjoyable. To make the day more enjoyable, we had a half day. Entry by Brian, Emmett and Fionn. On the 12th of October 2018, we created waterfalls for our latest visual art lesson. How to create the waterfalls: First we got a paper cup and cut two holes in them. Next we got some PVA glue and used some light blue paint, dark blue paint and/or purple paint. Next we got a paper plate and covered it with PVA glue. Soon after, we got a paper cup and stuck it onto the PVA glue covered paper plate. Next we got paint trays which carried PVA glue, dark blue and purple paint. The rocks arrived at each of our tables and we started to set them and stick them into the PVA glue but we left a little hole so we could make a little pond. We had a choice to paint the cup either dark blue or purple paint. We also painted the little space under the cup light blue for the pond under the waterfall. Above you will see how the process was complete. Entry by Aaron, Amjad and Arthur. The writing genre for the first term is Report writing which also means that we focus on reports for our oral language too. We were given a report on animals this week. There was three stages to this.
1. Research We researched the animals we wanted to do our report on. We used the computer room and we used our wildlife encyclopedias to gather information for our report. 2. Writing Our Reports When we had the information gathered, we wrote our reports into our writing genre copies. We played close attention to our report writing posters to ensure we had all aspects of report writing covered. 3. Presenting Our Reports When we had the reports written, we began to learn them and practice to present them at the top of the class. Next week, we will be going around to the other classes and presenting our reports to them. Last week, we took a trip to UCC to learn more about pollution. We were able to see first hand the damage that is being done to our oceans every year as a result of our bad habits
We discovered simple ways that we can help reduce the pollution spreading into our oceans. We discovered how we can become more active in informing people about the serious issue that faces us all. Above you will see pictures of us discovering the plastic found in samples from the ocean. This is extremely harmful to the creatures that live in our oceans and also has an impact on us because they're a part of our diet. Thank you to UCC for having us. We had a very busy today. The elections for the school council took place. We had a lot of candidates with some excellent ideas on how to improve school life for everybody.
The election was very close but Mark and Marwan were selected as our Class Councillors. We are incredibly lucky to have these two boys representing our class in the Student Council. Congratulations Mark and Marwan! Today, we had our annual cake. All proceeds will go towards the parents association and the work they do around the school this year. We were very eager to support the parents association and the cakes were nice too!
